Building for Our Community’s Future

Celebrations Begin:  40 Years of Serving Our Community

This year marks 40 years of providing care for our community in the Lexington Medical Center facility located on Hospital Drive. (Lexington Memorial Hospital, Inc. originally opened its doors in 1946 and relocated to the current Hospital Drive location in 1979.) In late March, hospital officials hosted the first of many celebrations at a dinner to reflect the accomplishments and health care advancements in our community over the years. In addition to commemorating the hospital’s history, the 40th Anniversary Celebration Event also applauded the progress of the new state-of-the-art surgical facility that was announced last Spring. Construction is well underway on four fully digital operating rooms that can accommodate various types of procedures and specialties. Additionally, a cystoscopy procedure room, a 10-bay post-anesthesia care unit, a dedicated waiting area for families and consultation rooms for physicians and family members will expand the care provided at Lexington Medical Center. Construction is expected to be completed in September with a community grand opening event scheduled for Sunday, September 29.

The $31.5 million project is jointly funded by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and through local philanthropy. The Lexington Medical Center Foundation invites you, our community partners, to contribute to the future of health care in our community. The Foundation announced a $3 million community fundraising effort last May. Thus far, nearly $1.8 million has been raised by the Foundation’s capital campaign. It’s not too late to be a part of our community’s health care advancements by donating to this incredible facility. Two ways to donate today:

  • Donate online or contact the LMC Foundation Office at 336-238-4559 to learn more about making a tax-deductible gift.
  • Make plans to buy a ticket and join us for our annual Sportsmen’s Saturday Event scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2019.  Ticket sales will begin July 1 and all proceeds will benefit the Surgical Facility.
