Pulmonary Rehab Team
The primary goal of pulmonary rehabilitation is to help people improve their daily lives and improve or restore their ability to function independently. Pulmonary rehabilitation patients participate in 36 sessions of education, exercise, smoking cessation and psychosocial support. Anyone who has a symptomatic chronic lung disease and difficulty completing daily activities will benefit from the program.
Patients with the following chronic lung diseases can benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation, even if symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough and mucus production are severe:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Emphysema
- Chronic bronchitis
- Asthma
Pulmonary rehabilitation can also be helpful to those in need of lung transplants or lung surgeries.
